Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

Please join Walk In Sunshine in raising awareness this October for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

In 1988, President Ronald Regan declared October as a month to recognize the unique grief of bereaved parents, and the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness movement had begun. Over one million pregnancies end in early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or the death of a newborn child each year. The loss of a child stays with parents, friends, and family members forever, but it can be challenging to truly understand the emotional and physical impact. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month enables us to support and meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members. We also hope this results in improved education and prevention efforts, which may ultimately reduce the number of these tragedies.

Town of Westfield Proclamation

While a Federal Proclamation was made in 1988, in 2019, the town of Westfield made a proclamation to recognize October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month on behalf of Walk In Sunshine. Walk In Sunshine strives to bridge the gap by providing online resources to families all around the world and contributing financially to families in need in the New Jersey area.
