Town of Westfield Making Proclamation for Infant Loss Awareness Month
This Tuesday, October 15, the town of Westfield is making a proclamation and recognizing October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month on behalf of Walk In Sunshine Charity.
“This is a huge honor,” said Lou Magrone in a statement. “Special thanks to Mayor Shelley Brindle for acknowledging how important this topic is and deciding to grant this proclamation in the town of Westfield.”
Magrone said “The first step in reducing the amount of pregnancy and infant loss is awareness”. “These babies have names and it is ok to use their names”. “My son’s name is Joseph and he rests in Fairview Cemetery, and it is ok to acknowledge him”
Infant loss awareness month was started in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. 4.1 million deaths of infants worldwide, less than one year old were reported in 2017 by the World Health Organization, and an estimated 2.6 million stillborns were reported worldwide by WHO in 2018.
Walk In Sunshine Charity tries to bridge the gap by providing online resources to families all around the world and contributing financially to families in need in the New Jersey area. To learn more about Walk In Sunshine Charity, you can visit their website.
